This day is organized for all riders in the lesson program to show off the skills they've learned thus far and was previously called a "Testing Day". Riders will be scheduled a time slot to show off a portion of their skills learned in the Passport to Excellence, as well as a blocked time for Off Horse "Funmanship" Activites with their fellow riders.

Alexander Technique Workshop

Thursday July 6, 2017 - Friday July 7, 2017

With a focus on awareness, choice and efficiency, the Alexander Technique offers horseback riders tools to be present and available for both self-discovery and ways to connect with the horse as they work on their craft and art.  Applying the Alexander Technique to riding entails becoming aware of habitual patterns of response, learning to think in activity, taking into account the internal and external environments, providing the space needed to make new choices at any moment, and improving the overall level of use to become very efficient and effective in riding. With the application of Alexander principles in riding, riders learn to pay attention to how they use themselves when they ride, they can enhance their ability to be attentive to the horse, and thereby increase the subtle ways of communicating with the horse through their intentions, directions and movements.
